Lots of Visitors to Our Website!

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Holy Santa Claus, we have a lot of people going to our website!  Folks are going to our website by the dozens to check out what our Farm has to offer.  The most interesting visitor?  Someone from China visited yesterday to check out our website.  I doubt if they’ll make a personal visit, but very curious nonetheless.  Mostly neighbors throughout Portland and the surrounding area are visiting our website and deciding if the Sunny Day Tree Farm is the one to visit for their Christmas Tree and Santa experience.  Thanks for visiting our Sunny Day Tree Farm website and posting a comment!

How Many Christmas Trees on the Farm?

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

The Sunny Day Tree Farm has roughly 30-35 acres of Christmas Trees.  On one acre we have about 1,750 Christmas Trees so that equates to well over 50,000 Christmas trees on our Farm.  We have newly planted seedlings that are about 3-4 inches high to our largest Christmas Trees that are over 6 feet high and all sizes in between.  Our largest Trees will grow 1 to 1 1/2 feet this Spring so next year we will have Christmas Trees that are well over 7 feet.

Don’t eat too much during Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Don’t over do it at Thanksgiving!  You’ll need your Christmas legs for Christmas tree hunting so watch how much you eat at Thanksgiving.  Some families make it a tradition to get their Christmas tree during Thanksgiving weekend.  Thanksgiving weekend is not too early to get your Christmas tree as long as you follow our guidelines for keeping it fresh.  A well cared for Christmas Tree should last well past the new year if you apply our Christmas tree care tips.

Visit During the Week

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

You can come for a special visit during the week if you cannot make it during a Saturday or Sunday.  Please call our Farm, 503-628-1017 to make arrangements for a special visit.  Someone is always here, but we do not open the gate for visitors unless they are expected.  If a weekday is better for you, please call us and we’ll be happy to arrange a day and time that is convenient for you.

Remember to Keep it Simple

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Remember to keep your Christmas simple.  The memories that you are creating for your family have a huge impact and they are the feelings they will hold on to for a lifetime.  It’s not the “stuff’” they’ll remember, it’s the tenderness that’s created by you during this time of year.  Work hard at not working hard, give yourself time and share the message of the season – keep it simple.

Signs, Signs, Signs!

Monday, November 16th, 2009

new-signLook for our new Sunny Day Tree Farm signs leading you up to the Farm!

This year we have a new Sunny Day Tree Farm sign at the entrance to our Farm as well as new road signs leading our friends to our farm.

Look for the  “Sunny Face” logo on the sign which is the same happy face you’ll see all over our website.

Always a good idea to still print directions so you know exactly how to get here from your home.

We’ll see you soon!

Christmas Chili!

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

Talk of which “Christmas Chili” receipt is in the air at the Sunny Day Tree Farm.  Around the lunch hour we’ll have Christmas Chili available for our friends to help warm the bones and fill their bellies.  After attending a Chili competition we have plenty of ideas for Chili and we’re looking forward to making the big batches of tasty Chili.  If you visit around the lunch hour, bring your appetite and taste for a hearty round of Chili!

Only Two Weeks to Opening Day!

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Boy, it’s a busy time on the Farm.  Only two weeks until we open and there’s a lot to do to prepare for opening day, the day after Thanksgiving.  Wreaths to be made, trees to be pruned, driveway to be prepared, Christmas Barn to be decorated – whew!  Time to “make the magic happen” on the Sunny Day Tree Farm!

Snow on the Farm?

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Snow on the Sunny Day Tree Farm?  Hey, the weather guys and gals called for potential snow at 1,000 feet and yes, you guessed it, the Farm is between 500 and 1,000 feet!  Good idea to check the weather before you come up to the Farm to be prepared for any kind of weather.  On the flip side, the valley can be socked in with clouds and/or fog and we’re as “clear as a bell” up here with sunshine & blue sky that we can see forever.  No telling what you’ll find when you arrive, just bring extra clothes and your camera for whatever Mother Nature decides to provide.
